Description
This 200-litre domestic hot water tank is an indirectly heated storage tank designed for the production and storage of hot sanitary water. The water inside the tank is heated via two internal heat exchangers (coils), allowing multiple heat sources to be combined efficiently.
Many installers say this type of domestic hot water tank is also referred to as a stand-alone solar boiler. This is because it is frequently used as the storage vessel in a solar thermal system, combined with solar collectors such as heat pipe collectors or flat plate collectors.
The tank itself is manufactured from high-grade stainless steel RVS316L. The internal heat exchangers are also fully made of stainless steel, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance, long service life and reliable heat transfer.
Working of the 2 heat exchangers
This domestic hot water tank is equipped with two internal heat exchangers:
- Lower heat exchanger
Typically connected to a solar thermal system using heat pipe or flat plate collectors. Solar energy is transferred directly to the domestic hot water stored in the tank. - Upper heat exchanger
Intended for auxiliary heating, for example via a gas boiler or central heating boiler. This ensures a reliable supply of hot water, even during periods with limited solar gain.
Energy-efficient and well insulated
The tank has an energy efficiency class A and a low standing heat loss of approximately 42 watts. Thanks to its high-quality insulation, heat loss is minimised, resulting in lower energy consumption and improved system efficiency.
Optional electric back-up heating
The tank is prepared for the installation of an electric heating element with a capacity of 1500 watts or 2500 watts.
The connection size is 1 inch, making installation of an electric element straightforward. This provides additional flexibility when no external heat source is available.

Frequently asked questions about this domestic hot water tank (200 litres)
Is this a hygiene boiler?
No. This is not a hygiene boiler. This product is an indirectly heated domestic hot water storage tank in which the water is stored and heated via internal heat exchangers. In a hygiene boiler, water flows directly through a coil, which is not the case here.
What material is the tank made of?
The tank is manufactured from stainless steel RVS316L, a high-quality stainless steel alloy with excellent resistance to corrosion and temperature fluctuations. The heat exchangers are also made entirely of stainless steel.
Is this domestic hot water tank energy efficient?
Yes. The tank has an energy efficiency rating A and a low standing heat loss of approximately 42 watts, contributing to efficient energy use.
Why is this tank also called a stand-alone solar boiler?
Because this type of domestic hot water tank is often used as the storage vessel in a solar thermal system. When combined with solar collectors, it functions as the solar hot water storage tank, which is why the term “stand-alone solar boiler” is commonly used.
What are the two heat exchangers used for?
- The lower heat exchanger is used for solar collectors.
- The upper heat exchanger is used for auxiliary heating via a gas or central heating boiler.
This ensures a consistent hot water supply, even when solar input is limited.
Can this tank be electrically heated?
Yes. The tank is prepared for an electric heating element of 1500 or 2500 watts, with a 1-inch connection.
What is the difference between a domestic hot water tank and a buffer tank?
A domestic hot water tank stores sanitary hot water for showers, taps and kitchens.
